Lighting is a super important ingredient in your decor recipe. It can totally make or break a room, and needs just as much attention as your furnishings, wall finishes and paint. It can be simple or complicated or totally unique, but this style of lighting should speak and be noticed even in broad daylight.
You don't want your lighting fixtures that you have invested in to simply hide during the day or fade into the wall, you want them to pop and be noticed when switched on or off. There are loads of affordable options that I have found online. This is a style I absolutely love and you don't need to own a "old brick works building" to achieve this look. You can have a totally brand new house and still have that industrial feel inside with iron fixtures and the Edison style bulbs that are modern and safe. Check out a few of these below to get ideas and see that you don't need to spend hundreds to enjoy this style of industrial wall sconces.
If you want your wall sconces or lights to double as a piece of art, this one would fit the bill. Placed front and center in a wall not only will it give off great lighting, but it really is a cool old world look. Handmade in the USA, this can be used on the wall or the ceiling. I think it would look awesome on the wall. It looks like old world plumbing.
As you can see this would look awesome on a exposed brick wall, but if you don't have one it would still show off your old world styling decor. These are pretty functional as lighting up rooms too! Old water pipes are used a lot in old world lighting.
If you want a more romantic authentic look you can get these wall sconces designed for candles. No electricity needed. This is a perfect way to keep candles safe too and when not in use they look awesome on the walls. I collection of these would look great together to give off more light and look great.
This wall light has a true authentic look and feel as even the cord is cloth covered to look original, yet totally and safely wired. If you love the wired cage look, these would look great in a room between windows or near darker corners. You can create great lighting will wall sconces.
I love this metal wheel wall sconce, it has such an old world look and I wouldn't even put art on the wall if I have a few of these in a room. They are definitely unique, different and a conversation piece. Use the right bulb and any of these fixtures will look old world and industrial.
If you want to achieve the industrial look, you can do it with light fixtures and furniture, but if you really want to take it a step further, you can get faux wallpaper that is truly realistic. You could use this as a focus wall in any room and add your wall sconces, metal artwork or anything to get the look you wish. Worth checking out, I was super surprised at how realistic they are and this one is called Tuscan brick and has many great reviews. Just click on any of the picture or links to find out more.
My sister is an electrician and has had many requests to checkout old fixtures customers have found in estate sales, garage sales and antique stores. It can get very expensive to rewire many of them to today's standards, and people don't tend to realize the original wiring in these fixtures are not safe and not up to standards. You could cause a fire in your quest to gain the industrial decor you are looking for.
But many traditional lighting stores, don't tend to carry old world style such as the industrial look, they tend to be more modern, chic, or country. I was amazed at just how many old world style fixtures were online at Amazon. Many are under 100 dollars, and are safe for North American wiring and no worries about bad electrics.
Every Detail Looks Rustic
What I truly love is how they have created them to look vintage and rustic right down to every little detail such as cloth covered wiring and the Edison style bulbs. These bulbs, in my opinion can make or break a fixture. You don't want to be sticking modern looking bulbs in an old world style fixture. Many of these fixtures come with the bulbs but please read the details.
So if this is a style you like, the way that I do, check out these industrial wall sconces online. Many are under 100 dollars and are simply unique, looking totally different than any fixture a builder or Home Depot is going to have. So many people forget about lighting when decorating their space to reflect their personality. They will use basic run of the mill floor lamps or chandeliers, so don't think you have to settle for modern styling when your decor is old world. Check these out. Click on any picture of link and check them out or find more you like. The above list are the ones I feel would be my favourite. But that is me!
Functional Pieces of Art!
To me these fixtures have a double duty, and that is to not only give off great lighting, but to also look wonderful on the wall, floor or ceiling as pieces of unique and rustic looking art pieces!
